How I Write

Great writers don’t find success. They forge it.

Before book sales and PR buzz, your favorite writers began with two things: the blank page and an idea.

  • Clean Desk

I believe that having everything “just so” is essential to the writing experience – everything you need at your fingertips, preferably arranged in straight lines and at right angles.

  • Defined Working Times

When I’m in writing mode for a novel, I get up at four a.m. and work for two to three hours. In the afternoon, I run for ten kilometers, then I read a bit and listen to some music.

  • No Distractions

I never listen to music when I’m working. I haven’t that kind of attentiveness, and I wouldn’t like it at all. On the other hand, I’m able to work fairly well among ordinary distractions.

Creativity is putting your imagination to work, and it's produced the most extraordinary results in human culture.

Main Working Principles

The Most Important Steps To Follow

Write A Lot

Consistency Over Perfection: Set a daily or weekly writing goal, even if it’s just a few words or pages. The habit matters more than immediate quality. Experimentation: Explore different genres, formats, and tones. Writing widely sharpens your skills. Revision is Key: First drafts are for ideas; revisions are for clarity and impact. Don’t fear editing. Track Your Progress: Keep a journal or log of your writing milestones to stay motivated.

Read A Lot

Diverse Reading: Read widely across genres, cultures, and perspectives to enrich your own writing. Active Engagement: Analyze what you read—study sentence structures, plot devices, or character development. Learn From the Masters: Read classic and contemporary works to understand how different writers approach storytelling. Balance Fiction and Nonfiction: Fiction fuels imagination, while nonfiction sharpens understanding of the real world. Stay Curious: Use reading to spark ideas and inspiration for your own projects.

Spread Your Ideas

Share Regularly: Post your work on blogs, social media, or writing platforms. Visibility builds credibility. Network with Other Writers: Join writing groups or attend workshops to exchange feedback and ideas. Engage Your Audience: Respond to readers’ comments and be open to their interpretations of your work. Pitch to Publications: Submit articles, stories, or essays to magazines and websites to expand your reach. Teach and Inspire: Share writing tips, lessons learned, or personal experiences to inspire others.

By writing persistently, reading voraciously, and actively sharing your ideas, you’ll cultivate growth as a writer and contribute meaningfully to the creative community.
